THE FAITH OF THE CENTURION

TOPIC: THE FAITH OF THE CENTURION

SCRIPTURE READING:

" When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." 8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith… 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour."

The situation of the centurion should have prevented him from going to Jesus. He was a professional soldier, and Jesus was a Man of peace. He was a Gentile, and Jesus was a Jew. But this soldier had a remarkable faith. He realized that Jesus, like himself, was under God's authority. All Christ had to do was speak the word and the disease would obey Him just as a soldier obeyed his officer. Indeed, only those who are under authority have the right to exercise authority.

Faith is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen.
Therefore, continue to have faith in Christ and He will do it for you also.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord Jesus, please help me continue to have faith in You because You are more than able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I can ask or think according Your power that works in me.
